Who could take part?

See if you could qualify

Every clinical trial has a list of qualifications (called eligibility criteria) that people must meet to be able to join the trial. Find out if one of the FREEDOM clinical trials might be a good fit for you by answering a few questions.

Eligibility criteria for recipients

Because FREEDOM-1 and FREEDOM-2 are looking to answer different questions about the investigational therapy, each trial has different criteria to qualify.

FREEDOM-1

We are looking for 120 recipient and donor pairs to take part. You may be eligible if you:

Are at least 18 years old
Are willing to take part in the trial for about five years
Have not yet received a kidney transplant from a living kidney donor (who is also willing and eligible to take part)

Other study criteria apply. The study team will discuss these with you.

Study participants are responsible for finding their own kidney donor. Visit the resources page or National Kidney Foundation's Living Donation page to learn more about finding a donor.

FREEDOM-2

We are looking for 15 recipient and donor pairs to take part. You may be eligible if you:

Are at least 18 years old
Are willing to take part in the trial for about five years
Have received a kidney transplant from a living kidney donor (who is also willing and eligible to take part) 3 to 12 months before the screening visit
Have not experienced any episodes of rejection
Have stable kidney function

Other study criteria apply. The study team will discuss these with you.
